Ingredients: 2 cups tomato juice, chilled; 1/4 cup lemon juice; 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce; 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish; 2 teaspoons olive brine, optional; 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (Tabasco); 1/2 teaspoon celery salt; 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Chill the tomato juice if there is time, and shake it before pouring.

In a large cocktail shaker, combine the tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire, horseradish, olive brine, hot sauce, celery salt and pepper. Shake well without ice to blend, then strain into a quart jar or small pitcher.

For the best flavor, chill at least 1 hour or overnight; the mix keeps up to 1 week. It can also be served right away.

For each drink, pour 1/2 cup of the mix into the rimmed glass, stir gently and fill with ice.
