   Chill the tomato juice and gin if there is time, and shake the tomato juice before pouring.

   In a large cocktail shaker, combine the tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire, horseradish, hot sauce, celery salt and pepper. Shake well without ice to blend, then strain into a quart jar or small pitcher.

   For the best flavor, chill at least 1 hour or overnight; the mix keeps up to 1 week. It can also be served right away.

   Rim each glass: run a notched lemon wedge around the rim and dip it in a mix of roughly half kosher salt and half Old Bay (or celery salt).

   For each drink, add 2 oz (1/4 cup) gin and 1/2 cup of the mix to the rimmed glass, stir gently, fill with ice and garnish.
