Two parts ruby red grapefruit juice to one of gin or vodka, stirred in the glass and sweetened to taste with simple syrup a quarter ounce at a time.

4 oz ruby red grapefruit juice (store-bought 100% juice, or 1 medium grapefruit)
2 oz gin or vodka
Simple syrup, optional

Instructions

1.
If using a whole grapefruit, juice it until you have 4 oz and strain out the pulp.
2.
Pour the grapefruit juice and gin or vodka into a highball or old-fashioned glass and stir. Fill the glass with ice. Taste, and stir in simple syrup 1/4 oz at a time if you want it sweeter.
